WHICH TYPE OF VETERINARIAN CARE DOES MY PET NEED?

Today’s pets, like their human counterparts, have access to the best healthcare. They have options for preventative care, emergency and urgent care, animal hospitals, surgery, physical therapy, diagnostics, and more.  With so many choices, it is important to know which kind of care or appointment to make.  The veterinarians at Cumberland Animal Hospital can help you determine the right type of care for your furry loved one!
PREVENTATIVE CARE APPOINTMENT

A preventive health care schedule is the most effective way to keep your pet healthy and happy. Many diseases are easily preventable and can be effectively treated if detected early enough. Preventative care or wellness programs typically consist of: semi-annual wellness exams, nutrition check-ups, an examination of all body systems of your pet(s), as well as dental health, vaccinations, and parasite control.
EMERGENCY AND URGENT CARE

When a pet’s medical situation can’t wait for an appointment, veterinary emergency and urgent care services are available. Similar to humans — emergency care refers to any life-threatening condition that needs immediate attention and urgent care items need to be taken care of before the next available appointment. Cumberland Animal Hospital offers emergency and animal urgent care during normal or extended business hours.

SPECIALTY VETERINARIAN

Sometimes your pet needs a referral or specialty veterinarian for testing or treatment that is beyond the scope of a standard veterinary clinic. A specialty veterinarian is one that has  taken additional clinical training in a particular field of veterinary medicine, such as cardiology, surgery, oncology, or ophthalmology.
The health and well-being of your pet is our top priority at Cumberland Animal Hospital. If your pet needs more specialized care, our veterinarians will work with you to find the right specialist. We also provide emergency and animal urgent care services during normal business hours and will direct you to one of three local animal emergency clinics if your pet needs to be seen after hours. Pet owners who think their pet needs to be seen for an urgent need should immediately call 910-822-3337.
